Madina Mohamed Mahmmod Mohamed offers advanced treatment for waste water that makes it reusable as drinking water. Using membrane technologies to treat waste water in the petrol and gas industries is an important step forwards in terms of environmental sustainability. Mahmoud's studio is making a new membrane for forward osmosis (FO), of thin film nanocomposite (TFN), through interfacial polymerisation. It is modified to contain different proportions of nano-filler for carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and nanometric layers of graphene oxide (GO). As a direct effect, various flows of water can be obtained, free of salts with anti-fouling and antimicrobial properties.
This is Eni's international competition for applied energy research, launched in 2007 to find the best studies into efficiency, sustainability and environmental protection. Every year it involves the most important scientific institutions in the world and Eni's own laboratories.
